When Muis was first diagnosed with insulinoma, I put a tray with a bowl of dry food and water next to the chest of drawers where the gang sleep at night. I thought it would make life easier for her not to have to schlep all the way to the laundry to get her food if she was hungry.
Of course the other ferrets eat the food there, no problem about that, but just recently Muis has developed a most unusual habit and it’s ALWAYS around 3am when she does it!

It came on Friday and I started her on it immediately.
The instructions said to give it to her twice a day, which I did, but after a couple of days I heard her retching and trying to throw up so I thought I’d stop the evening dose.
I emailed Kamila and asked her advice and she agreed with what I did, saying that the formula was fairly strong and if I was also giving Muis her melatonin tablet every day, it would be fine to just give her the TCM once a day.

Great timing too … it was delivered yesterday afternoon so I managed to give it to Muis before the 9 hour from sunrise deadline. Phew
I put the tablet in a small mortar and pulverised it with the pestle, then mixed it with the Whiskas pet milk and gave it to her ladyship. She drank up the liquid, no problem. That was about 4pm, which is around about the time I normally give her her prednisone and also a small saucer filled with the pet milk mixed with Poly-MVA, which she shares with Angus.

It’s like living with a yo-yo! One day Muis is up, the next day she’s down. Gah!
At this precise moment in time, so far so good, thank goodness.
She was really odd at the beginning of the week … I watched her walking around the house and she seemed confused and a bit bewildered about where she was. She’d stand outside a closed door to a room (which she never used to go into) and seemed to wonder why she wasn’t able to go inside – or she’d stand in the middle of the sitting room and look like she didn’t know where she was.

She was fine last week but I couldn’t get to see our vet on Wednesday as the vet was ill so had to reschedule my appointment to Saturday. It didn’t worry me because Muis wasn’t showing any other signs of adrenal other than hair loss.
However … on Thursday morning I picked her up and although her eyes were open, she was as floppy as a rag doll. Another low blood sugar crash! God! I thought the medicine was supposed to stop that from happening!
