Firstly, I am very relieved to say that I got an email from Cass to say she and all her family and animals were fine. Although the fire was close by, it didn’t come their way, thank God!
However, she did send me pictures of two of her youngsters that have suddenly developed swollen ears. Apparently they’re not bothered by the swelling but Cass wondered if I could help and tell her what the cause might be.
I looked and could only think of ear mites … but would mites make an ear so swollen?!

I wonder if Kaos’ wobbly turn last month was due to ear mites?
Have any of you found that mites have caused your ferrets, or other animal, to become “unbalanced” (in that they lose their balance – not because they’re mentally unstable, of course
) because of ear problems?
I hang my head in shame because I usually do a quick check of our ferrets’ ears every so often to make sure they are clean and pink. However I must admit I haven’t been very observant since having my operations.
