Oh wow! 5 weeks isn’t a long time but it is when you have ferrets :-)

I remembered to put my bottle of club soda on the top of the chest of drawers because Seamus is a devil when it comes to getting bottle tops off … and silly me thought my bottle was safe! Oh no – not with Seamus in the house!

I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t seen it for myself.

Seamus on the bed, eyes fixed on the bottle of soda on the chest of drawers. He gets ready and has this silly little wriggle with his tush as he concentrates (at this point I will say he reminds me of Johnny Wilkinson, the British rugby player, who has a REALLY silly little wriggle when he’s about to kick the ball!) and then he throws himself up towards the top of the chest of drawers.

Every other time he’s crashed and dropped but not this time. Oh no!  Seamus managed to get on to the top then and he scrabbled up and was about to grab the bottle victoriously! I am so glad I was there to rescue that poor bottle otherwise the mess would have been fairly impressive, as you might imagine :-)

Was I impressed by his athletic prowess?  Was I ever!  But so far so good- it has not been repeated so I’ve had a sigh of relief (until the next time – nyuk nyuk!) :-)

And now to Kahlua!  I confess to being a little disappointed the first night back with the ferrets as the girls didn’t come onto the bed to cuddle us. I put Muis under the doona (doona = quilt to non-Australians) and she stayed there for a little while but then went off.

However … last night Kahlua came up and snuggled up between the doona and the blanket, pressed against my leg, around 10pm and she stayed there until Philip woke up at 10.30 this morning.

I finally felt like we were REALLY back home!!
