On Friday, I came across an article about the cancer-fighting properties of papaya leaf extract which had been confirmed by researchers. The thing that pricked up my ears was the fact that this supplement was good for shrinking tumours in the pancreas and liver, amongst other organs.

So, first thing on Saturday I went galloping to the health food store and got a bottle of papaya (or paw paw, as it’s called here) leaf extract to give to Kahlua.

pawpaw I’ve always enjoyed eating papaya and thought the liquid would taste something like the fruit … HAH! Was I wrong! Took a capful to taste and almost spat it out as it tasted like cider vinegar. Gah!

Okay, so I realised I couldn’t squirt that down Kahlua’s throat. The instructions said that it could be added to water so I got a small empty jar, put a capful of the extract in and added about 2 capfuls of water.

It has to be chilled before serving so into the fridge it went.

That evening, I put about 0.5ml into a syringe and gave it to Kahlua. To my surprise, she didn’t gag or look upset about having to drink it so obviously the diluted version was more palatable that the straight one :)

Sunday I gave it to her morning, noon and night, and I swear she looked like she had a spring in her step when she was walking around.

I am still giving her the TFPlus every day, and I also got a bottle of zeolite, which was recommended by the people who supply the Poly MVA and TFPlus. That goes into the ferrets’ smoothie with all the other supplements, so she get that as well.

So … let’s see if it really does help to reduce her tumour/s and keep her going in good shape for a lot longer. It’s early days yet and I really hope I won’t have to eat my optimistic words!
