Oh this makes me so ANGRY
What does, I hear you ask?
The bad rap ferrets seem to get
Oh how it annoys me!!
AND what also really gets my goat is that so often the bad impression is perpetuated by stupid humans who show the ferret up in a bad light.
There is a bikie gang in NSW called “`The Finks” and they are all driving across the Nullarbor to visit our fair city some day soon. Not good for us but my BP climbed sky-high when I saw the Finks’ spokesman being interviewed on TV.
He was your typical, ugly bikie gang member – revolting tattoos all over, bald head with a grey stubble glinting in the light, silly wispy grey beard on his chinny chin chin and what was his name? FERRET!
For crying out loud – why did he have to chose that moniker?! Why not Pitbull or Akita or Grizzly Bear? I’m not being horrible to Pitbull, Akita or grizzly bear owners, I just think the name would suit a bikie better than “Ferret”!
And then, to add insult to injury … I was watching some old reruns of an English TV cop show called “The Bill” and in one episode, two detectives go to see some smelly old homeless guy who’s their “snout” (informer).
They find him and when one of the detectives tries to hang onto his arm, ”Missy”, the ferret he has with him, bites her on the hand before running away.
The old guy won’t give the detectives the information they want until they find Missy for him, so the next scene is of one of the lady detectives roaming around the bushes near the shopping centre, calling for Missy, and all the smart mouthed teenagers are laughing at her.
She finds Missy inside a dumpster (how does a ferret get into a dumpster by itself, I asked!), furtling around for food.
There always seems to be that very obvious implication that ferret owners are some kind of weirdos — tramps, poachers or whatever — but rarely do we see ferret owners as being ordinary folk who’ve just fallen in love with a very special little creature who’s managed to twist their owner’s heartstrings into knots!

ferret…really? you sure his name isn’t “Rabbid wharf-Rat” that seems more fitting don’t you think?… ho did i say that?…
Bad !! yes I know what you are saying. Have seen a few.I heard there was a group here in the states that use to carry snakes on their bike. They didn’t have to worry about me going any where near their bike LOL. But a Ferret. Give me a break. I’m just hoping his real name isn’t Ferret !!!
It’s just kind of sad, now, that these incidents are what most non-ferrents will remember. No one *should* look at a picture or watch an interview with a guy like that and draw *any* type of conclusion about the animal, but unfortunately some will. We can just hope that no actual *ferrets* are ever unlucky enough to run across those people!
That’s exactly right, Sunny. It will just cement people’s opinion of ferrets as being vicious, smelly, mean animals and that’s what bugs me.
I mean, if “Ferret” was called “Rottweiler” I’d take issue with that too! We’ve had Rotties when the kids were small and they were the most loving, protective dogs ever. Kind, soppy and so sweet BUT because so many people who have them train them to be mean, the general public equate Rotties with vicious dogs. You can’t win sometimes.
I do agree that this Biker doesn’t deserve the right to call himself Ferret.
Now I hope !!! No One takes this wrong!!! I myself & Ed both ride HD & have belonged to Motor Cycle Clubs in the past Ed even has that hard bad ass look. ( He is really a Teddy Bear ) & as a rule most are animal & child lovers. So I hope I’m not steping on any toes here.
I just had to laugh at him, a big guy like himself being called Ferret. ( after such a tiny sweet animal ) I’d like to know why ????
No Nona I didn’t miss understand your post, I know that they seem to always put our ferrets in the bad light so to speak.
But you have given me a great idea for the next paint job on my HD. Sweet cuddley Ferrets at play. What do you think ???
Hahaha – cool idea, JC!! Yes, a couple of wardancing ferrets would look cool on your bike
LOL!
Actually I won a prize for Webgrampy several years ago. It was an afternoon spin on the back of a HD around Perth and he had an absolute ball! Loved the trip being on the back of that bike.
Fortunately his chauffeur didn’t look like Ferret – hee hee.
But to go back to the biker – the police consider these motor cycle gangs to be big trouble and they seem to be into all kinds of illicit dealings (drugs, etc) so are quite scary people. Hearing that the Finks were coming over means that the police are preparing themselves for a turf war here and no one is looking forward to that!
I completely agree with you,Nona:this ugly biker certanly doesn’t deserve to wear the same name as so sweet, dear and smart little animals..
