Muis the moshpit diver ;)
When Muis was first diagnosed with insulinoma, I put a tray with a bowl of dry food and water next to the chest of drawers where the gang sleep at night. I thought it would make life easier for her not to have to schlep all the way to the laundry to get her food if she was hungry.
Of course the other ferrets eat the food there, no problem about that, but just recently Muis has developed a most unusual habit and it’s ALWAYS around 3am when she does it!
She comes crashing out of the drawers, goes off to spend her penny or whatever, then she goes to the tray and I hear her crashing and banging as if she’s diving into the bowl of food. It’s really noisy and wakes me up so last night I turned on the light to see what she was doing and saw her flinging the food out of the bowl before she started eating the kibble off the tray!
Go figure!!
Why does she do that? Beats me. Why does she do that only at night? No idea!
Thank goodness Philip sleeps through the disturbance otherwise I think he’d be (rightfully) very underwhelmed by Muis’s actions
Well, looking on the bright side, I am extremely happy to know for a fact that she hasn’t lost her appetite and is chuffing her way through her kibble!!

ha ha wonderful ruckus isn’t it?
Hanna dose that all the time, their food is in a flat sheet pan with 2-3″ sides and they shuffle through it Hanna plays hockey and soccer in the pan then eats.
aww, you have to love ferret quirks
When Pixie was on kibble, she did that, too – digging it out and then hunting down the pieces that got wedged between the bars of their (at the time) hardwire covered Superpet cage (she’d avoid the ones spread all over the bottom of the cage and go for the stuck pieces – I guess she liked the amount of noise her rattling made, or something).
Now that everyone is on raw, they dig in their waterbowl and then lick up the drops that make it to the tray. Go figure!
You jus gave me an idea Nona.
My kids have 2 dishes of food & water in their cages as well as one on the floor of the playroom. Right now I haven\’t noticed Zoie touching any dry food. If Muis can go all the way to the landary room to eat, then maybe by leaveing Zoie out at night, she\’ll do the same head for the dry food. It\’s worth the try. (Thank you Muis.) If she doesn\’t then I tend to think she a little spoiled with the wet food & all the attention she is getting.
Hugs
I am very proud of Muis, & she\’s yours. Mess or not I bet you were thrilled to see her eating..
sweet Muis

I never hear Fritzy when she wakes up in the night for eating but sometimes I hear Fred making a noise dragging the bowl..
last days he’s favorite thing is climbing on the kitchen table-he can jump pritty high and jumps like a cat on the chair and from there on the table..I put him down tousand times saying “no” but in a few seconds he’s back on the table looking at me this way “ha,I’m here again!”
kisses for Muis and her gang and hugs to you,Nona.
