More on Russian sables ….
My goodness — I couldn’t believe it when I saw this video. It’s taken by the same people and so I assume that the sables are the same as in that earlier video but now grown up. I’d say they were around 3 months old but obviously can’t be certain.
The guy obviously loves his mustelids and watching these sables flying around his apartment made me so glad that our ferrets don’t act quite like that. Yes they have their mad moments but these sables take the cake in craziness
)
They have such interesting little faces, almost fox-like. Since they’re from the marten family, it’s not surprising to see that they look similar to a pine marten but they also look like the fisher, don’t you think?
If you look closely, you’ll see a ferret on the floor and it seems to get along quite well with his mad cousins.
There was also another video, also by Vladimir, of a Siberian weasel. Fascinating to see it interacting with the same ferret (I think).
Anyway, watch and laugh

Hahaha – that’s so true!!
And just the other day I had an email from a ferret lover who said his ferret got hold of a bottle of Dr Pepper and managed to bite through the plastic so that the liquid fizzed everywhere! Shades of Seamus
Anyway, he said his ferret went completely ballistic after drinking some of that cola so maybe I should have said his ferret went completely “sable”
))
OMG, I can’t believe he still has pictures hanging on the walls! XD XD
Seriously, this is why you don’t given ferrets anything with caffeine–they’d spaz out just like that. 6.6
Oh Kristin — I am so sorry to hear about your ferret but I honestly haven’t heard of anything like you’ve described.
My boy Otis had what I believe was DIM — you can read about it here
http://www.all-about-ferrets.com/otiss-story.html
but he didn’t go downhill as quickly as your ferret did and he didn’t have the fluid build-up or bloody poop either.
I am really so sorry not to be able give you any answers but if you ever do find out what happened to your little girl, I would really appreciate it if you let me know so that I can write about it on my Medical Information page.
Again, I am so sorry that I couldn’t help you

Hi, you seem to know alot about ferrets so I was wondering if I could ask you a question. I brought mine into the vet on Tuesday morning and this morning she passed away. She went from being completely healthy and running around one day to being sick and lethargic the next and then gone in the next 24 hours. They werent even able to get blood from her or cultures because she wasnt urinating and was completely dehydrated. She just wouldnt absorb the fluids they were giving her, her heart was going, she was filling with fluid, her stool was bloody then tarry and black and it seemed as if everything shut down. I cannot figure out what would have caused this soo quick. Have you ever heard of this happening??? My vet was very surprised as well. Anyway, thanks for any advice you could give me. Kristin
