Milk thistle for ferrets
Has anyone tried this supplement on their ferret?
Why I ask is because I ordered another bottle of Transfer Factor Plus from my supplier and I mentioned Kahlua’s strange symptoms.
When I got the TFPlus, I found a sheet of Legalon milk thistle capsules which they’d very kindly put in for Kahlua to try, to see if that would help her condition.
They even googled if ferrets could have it and told me they’d seen several websites which talked about ferrets having this supplement. What wonderful people!
I opened one capsule and spooned the powder into my daily pill box, which I’d bought for Kaos’s TCM years ago. I then put a small portion of powder into some pet milk, stirred it and gave it to Kahlua.
It was quite amazing to see her walking around the house a couple of hours later looking quite perky. Then a few hours after that I found her sleeping on her back in her hammock looking very relaxed. I think any owner of a sick ferret will know how unusual that is, as sick ferrets tend to just curl up when they sleep.
It seems that any ferret with problems with its liver would benefit by taking milk thistle and it doesn’t seem to have any awful side effects. However I did find a holistic ferret forum with a post about milk thistle and pred. It was thought that the milk thistle MIGHT block the pred but this wasn’t said to be a fact.
I found a good site with information for dogs and cats so would recommend it to any ferret owner looking to find out more about this supplement. There they recommend you giving it to your pet for 5 days, then stopping for 2, and continuing that for 6 weeks.
I’ll give it a go and see if Kahlua continues to walk with a spring in her step as the days go by. God knows I hope she will!

That was so sweet of them
I’ve been in interested in the TFplus for Pixie, but was unsure (considering these things, for me, always seem iffy). Have you seen improvement (basically, do YOU think the TF is worth it?)?
