Marine Phytoplankton for ferrets
Well it has arrived!
I read the instructions (which were for humans) and they said that first time users should take 1/8th of a teaspoon in some liquid and then build up to a higher dose.
I tasted the liquid and it was like seaweed – a bit salty but nothing too gross – but I was worried that Muis would spit it out when I gave it to her mixed in her pet milk.
As I said in a previous post, the boys will not take their smoothy with the Transfer Factor Plus in it – absolutely not – but the girls lick it up happily. I’ve still been putting 1/2 cup of pet milk in the bowl, together with the egg yolk and TFPlus, but two ferrets can’t finish that much so today I reserved what was left and added the Marine Phytoplankton liquid to that.
I gave Muis her evening dose of pred and then put the liquid in a saucer and got Kahlua to help drink it all up. Absolutely no problems, thank goodness.
After they finished, I made up a bit of pet milk with Poly-MVA and gave it to the boys, who lapped it up eagerly! Since they don’t have anything wrong with them (touch wood), I’m happy for them not to have the TFPlus or Phytoplankton added to their pet milk.
I was looking at Muis this afternoon while she was wandering around the sitting room and, you know what? I think she is looking really well!
She seems to have lost that ‘teardrop’ shape and her collar doesn’t look like it’s way too big around her neck. When she lost her fur, the collar was really rattling around but now, somehow, she’s filled out across the shoulders and her neck size seems to have increased … and, as I said, she is looking good.
When Philip got home from work I asked him to look at her, just to see if maybe I was imagining an improvement but even he said that she was looking better than before!
For the first time since she was diagnosed with her insulinoma, I honestly think she might just exceed the vet’s timeline of 18 months!
If she does, I reckon it was due to the TFPlus. If she doesn’t …. well … I’ll be devastated … but I guess we’ll know by May 2010.

I guess it’s time to leave the house & get the ink for my printer, as I should of come back here & read this post. before e-mailing you with all my questions. Sorry.I found the site here on the marine phytoplankton, but no mention of liquid, just powder & pills, Better go back and check again.
I’m wishing all the best of health & happy healthy ferrets.
Hugs to you & your gang
Oh Nona I’m so happy for you. I give all my kids the TF in their morning cereal. so far they all don’t mind it. As for Zoie she is still very weak , wabbles around & sleeps alot. Taking her back in to the vet, she does seem to eat well but it’s like what go’s in comes out. Now Trouble is the one that surprises me, she seems to have put on weight. The rest all seem to act better & I too, am hoping it’s due to the TF.
You have all my blessing that Muis keeps improving.
Best wishes to all your fuzzy & You
Hi JC, I am so pleased to hear that your gang are looking better but hope Zoie starts to improve with the TF and Poly-MVA.
Please give her a special hug from us and tell her we’re all praying for her speedy recovery. And, of course, hugs to the rest of your gang – I didn’t mean to leave them out
Hi Nona, really pleased she’s picking up, I’ve got a raging dose of flu at the moment and I hope I don’t pass it on to the fuzzies. They were going nuts when I fed them this morning, they love chopped beef for brekkies but it’s not helpful to have four ferrets sitting on your back when your trying to unscrew the water bowls to change the water. Give your four hugs…..god I love ferrets!
Oh you poor thing, Tracy. Hope you get well soon and I’m sure that your gang are making you feel a whole lot better with their silly antics
It is a worry with the ferrets around … my husband said one of his staff had swine flu so had been sent home from the office and I confess I was worried about our ferrets getting it – not him getting it!! What a terrible wife I am – tee hee
Well, I hope she’s getting better, too. You and Muis have all our best wishes
Thanks so much, Sunny! Your good wishes are very much appreciated
