Leonardo’s ermine ….

I decided I should hunt down a picture of an ermine, facing the same way if possible, to prove my point about how very unermine-like Leonardo’s creature is.
Look again at its leg and foot – so muscular and so wrong!
Maybe everyone has it wrong and it really isn’t an ermine but some mythical creature he invented ;-D

if you look at several of Leonardo’s pictures you will note that the arms that extend downward, are pretty much the same muscle tone and shape. on both male and female.
it was kind of a trade mark of his
i believe. and the ermine.. well
the way it looks, surprisingly it’s shaped and built more like an American mink, from the pictures I’ve seen. strange indeed.
