I’m feeling incredibly depressed :(
It looks like Muis now has adrenal problems on top of everything else!
I know that ferrets with insulinoma can get adrenal problems as well but I had been so optimistic about the Poly-MVA helping her, and she seems so bright and active, that I thought that I had everything under control for her.
Her coat was looking a bit scruffy a couple of weeks ago then towards the end of last week, I noticed that, just when the light hit her back at a certain angle, her fur looked very thin just between her shoulder blades and that’s when all the warning bells went off. And now, just yesterday, I saw that the hair at the base of her tail is beginning to thin out.
I’ve had ferrets for 15 years and never, ever, not once, had one with adrenal problems until now. I know I’ve been lucky and I was hoping that the trend would continue but obviously that’s not to be.
You can see from this photo how she’s losing fur on her back
Well, we’re off to see Fiona on Wednesday so I’ll have a clearer idea of what our options are after I’ve spoken to her.
Muis hasn’t had any other signs of adrenal problems – no excessive itching, she’s eating and drinking well, she’s pooping and piddling normally and isn’t lethargic. In fact, she’s still bustling around the house happily and interacting with Zac and the other ferrets.

I'm sending my love to little Muis hoping saturday isn't to late for her..poor little mouse
Thank you all for your comforting words – I really appreciate them.
It's not looking good for Muis – she had a blood sugar crash again this morning and we had to rub honey on her gums.
My vet is sick so we can't get to see her till Sat morning. I hope Muis lasts that long
Hey Nona,
Girl, I am so sorry to hear about your little one. It's hard, I know. We lost our Cupid to cardiomyopathy and a few weeks later I adopted Snow (who is a white ferret, like Cupid was) and the next thing I know, I'm giving him meds for a heart murmur. Not fair!
They are too sweet to have all these issues. You are a good mom, and he will do just fine.
My heart is with you.
Hugs,
Susan
Oh Nona !!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed it's not an Adrenal gland. I lost My Fluffy to insulinoma, & of course you know about my poor Icey.Oh My God !!! My Heart go's out to you & Muis. I'll keep you both in my prayers.
JC
I'm sending good thoughts and love to poor Muis hoping your vet would be able to help her!
