Here’s wishing you all a Happy Valentine’s Day … I hope you get lots of chocolates, flowers, special dinners from your partners and lots of kisses from your ferrets ;-) )

I got a Valentine’s Card from Philip yesterday. Big surprise!

I was sitting on our bed and had Kahlua on my lap. She thinks it’s great to lie on my lap, using my nightie as a hammock and she goes through a spell of ferocious scratching before getting comfy.

Philip came in and said, “You didn’t check the mailbox today, did you!”

“Nope, I forgot!” I replied.

“Well the mailman brought something for you,” he said and put the card in my hand.

He went out of the bedroom and I opened my card … it was the sweetest thing and so unexpected. I got all teary that he’d bothered to send me one so I put Kahlua on the bed and went out to give him a big hug as a thank you.

DUH ME!

I totally forgot I had left my FULL glass of milk on my bedside table, didn’t I! And when I came back into the bedroom, I saw Kahlua, sitting innocently on the bed with a nice ring of milk around her mouth, and the rest of the milk all over the top of my bedside table, dripping down the side!

Aaarrrghhhh! I have a power board between my side of the bed and the bedside table and it made me go cold with fright just to think about little ferret feet and wet power boards.

Well, that will teach me not to get distracted by sweet Valentine’s Day cards and to always put my glass of milk out of reach when I go out of my bedroom! My bad!!!

Still, no harm done. Just lots of cleaning up :-D

Here’s a gorgeous picture of Sam the koala with her new friend called Bob, who was also rescued from those terrible bushfires last week.

He has his paw protectively around Sam as they both recover from their burns at the Southern Ash Wildlife Centre and to me the photo epitomises the meaning of Valentine’s Day.

A little bit of happiness shining through all the devastation, death and destruction that happened last week in Victoria.

And not only to think about those who suffered in Victoria, but also the poor people in waterlogged Queensland (60% of that state is under water and 54% is in drought condition – go figure!), and the poor folks in Oklahoma who were hit by tornadoes, and the people in Buffalo, killed in that plane disaster.

Makes me want to switch off the news whenever it comes on  :(

BUT … not to be gloomy and doomy here.  Again, have a very Happy  Valentine’s Day and many dooks from the Land Down Under  :-))
