For those of you who’ve been through my Total Ferret Info page, you’d have seen a reference to Quebec and Imphal, mascots of the Yorkshire Regiment in England, which were mentioned in my Present Day Ferret Achievements section.

I recently had an email from someone who found my site and she gave me her website’s URL.  I wandered around then ended up on another website called FERT.  FERT is an acronym for the Ferret Education & Research Trust, an English charity for ferrets.

I was absolutely thrilled to see more information about Quebec and Imphal on that site and there were some really superb photos of the dynamic duo interacting with their soldiers.  I particularly liked this one of them peeking out from between the boots at parade – I wonder how they managed to get the ferrets to stand still and have both their little faces facing the front for long enough to get that shot.  It really is a super picture. And then there was this one, which had me chuckling …. I could just imagine what the sergeant major was yelling to … was it Quebec or was it Imphal?

Let’s imagine it was Quebec
“CORPORAL QUEBEC!  Where the BLAZES have you hidden the insoles to my boots!  I’ve looked under every bed on the base and can’t find them ANYWHERE! You will be cleaning out all the litter trays for the next year if you don’t put them back in my boots!”

And Cpl Quebec looks like he doesn’t have a care in the world … litter latrine duties notwithstanding  :D
