I was looking for something entirely different on the Internet and came across a site called Doggy Pubs, which gives the names of pubs across England which cater to man’s best friend as well.

Just for a laugh, I did a search for “ferret” on the site and found the following description of a pub in Derbyshire

*WARDLOW MIRES The Three Stags Heads*

Something of an acquired taste this pub. Only open at weekends and on Bank Holidays. Strictly no mobile phones allowed. The place is quite a zoo, as well as dogs you’ll find hawks on the back of chairs and ferrets drying out by the fire. Folk evenings on Saturday nights. Huge portions of home cooked food. Take the A623 from Stoney Middleton towards Tideswell.

Amused at the thought of ferrets drying out by the fire, I looked for images of the pub and must say it looks like a very homely sort of place and one where ferrets would probably be more than welcome. Love the picture of the pooch sleeping on the chair.

Well, in the very unlikely event that we ever find ourselves in England again, I will definitely drag Philip up north to the Three Stags Heads in the hopes of finding a ferret in front of the fire which I will be able to cuddle.

Noel Coward said mad dogs and Englishmen … I say mad Aussies and ferrets!!
