What is a chav, you might well ask.

I had no idea what the term meant until Danielle, our youngest daughter, put me in the picture. Apparently it’s an acronym for Council House And Violent and the people to whom the term apply love wearing plaids and other checks, as well as having lots of ‘bling bling’ on their bods.

There’s a really weird flash animation about chavs singing about being “In Me Burberry” if you want to check it out for a giggle.

And what have chavs to do with ferrets?

It’s all to do with those checks. A guy who owns a ferret accessory store in England made a nifty little tartan number for ferrets and said something to the effect that the outfit, a cape and cap ensemble, was “in the famous Burberry design”. I don’t know if Burberry got miffed about the fact that the guy had the temerity to advertise a ferret outfit quoting their name (gasp, shock, horror!) or what, but they have gone after him in a big way, according to the article in the Telegraph.

First the Ferret Olympics and now this, it makes me wonder if it’ll come to the stage where we’ll be threatened with law suits if we describe anything with a brand name these days. It’s utterly ridiculous! As I said earlier, we should trademark (or is it copyright?) the word FERRET and if anyone dares to use it, especially in a derogatory way (like saying someone has a face like a ferret), then we can come out swinging with law suit bats.

What a jolly idea!
