Does anyone know what caused this swollen ear?
Firstly, I am very relieved to say that I got an email from Cass to say she and all her family and animals were fine. Although the fire was close by, it didn’t come their way, thank God!
However, she did send me pictures of two of her youngsters that have suddenly developed swollen ears. Apparently they’re not bothered by the swelling but Cass wondered if I could help and tell her what the cause might be.
I looked and could only think of ear mites … but would mites make an ear so swollen?!
I honestly don’t have a clue what it could be.
Any ideas, anyone?!

“uzdravlje” ili “zivjeli” is much better than “nazdravlje” to say “cheers ” in Croatian
“nazdravlje” is used when someone sneezes sudenly in meanung “I wish your health will be well”..
but if you say “nazdravlje” instead “uzdravlje” to someone it means at any rate you wish something good to him and you will not make a great mistake..
I added you in to my bloglist too..wish you a nice week!
Hello again Dada! I am so glad you found me again
I had a look at your blog – it’s great and I’ll be adding it to my list. I know people would love to learn about ferrets in other countries!
Nazdravlje! (my feeble attempt to translate Cheers into Croatian – LOL!)
Sorry – didn’t check my comment before posting … I meant to say
I’ll pass your comments on to Cass and I know she’ll really appreciate them
Gah! It’s been a busy few days and my brain feels scrambled

Thank you so much, Sunnyberra and Bill, for your thoughts and ideas about what might be the cause of that swollen ear.

ho NONA
if the fire was close by
it could very well be a reaction
ether to fine soot ash or something toxic in the air carried
in by a wind or breeze you mighte ask them to look in their mouth at
the back of the throat for dark
or reddish spots and swelling.
NONA
YES it could, Also it would get infected from them scratching if they got some dirt or some piddle
no their feet or they bite them playing to rough.
wheee, it’s me, again *g*
My guys have had mites before, but I’ve never seen their ears swell (but, that doesn’t mean it can’t happen).
I did think of two things, though.
1) are her furkids sucklers? Both of my youngest had a tendency to suckle on another ferret’s ears. It was making the ears red and swollen, and I had to put vaseline (with vitamin e and aloe) on the ears to soothe and to also keep Yogi and Sian from doing it in the first place.
2) are there any bugs (mosquitoes, gnats, flies, fleas) where the ferrets are? If so, they may have bitten the ferrets and that’s what caused the swelling(besides excessive itching).
Or, too, could it be an allergy of some sort? I don’t know of one that could cause ears (and nothing else) to swell, though.
Hope the little guys get better soon, and thank god your friends are okay
