This is a good article about what to look out for if you suspect your ferret has caught swine flu and it also gives pet owners advice about other animals and the H1N1 virus so well worth reading.
We had a number of deaths in Australia during our winter just gone and the authorities came out with an H1N1 vaccination at the end of winter.
When asked why they were urging people to be vaccinated now, in spring, the answer was that they reckon that next winter will bring an upsurge of cases and the virus could kill a whole lot more people. Read more...

I came across this article on the Oregon Live website ...
Ferret gets swine flu from its owner, a first

What does, I hear you ask?
The bad rap ferrets seem to get
Oh how it annoys me!!
AND what also really gets my goat is that so often the bad impression is perpetuated by stupid humans who show the ferret up in a bad light.
There is a bikie gang in NSW called "`The Finks" and they are all driving across the Nullarbor to visit our fair city some day soon. Not good for us but my BP climbed sky-high when I saw the Finks' spokesman being interviewed on TV. Read more...

I was recently contacted by a lovely young lady who has produced a site for animal lovers to send eCards - it's called Sloppy Kiss Cards.
She told me she'd recently added ferrets to her selection of pets and I must say, when I saw the examples she sent me, I was most impressed with her artwork.
Take a look at these two cards ...
A ferret wishing you a Happy Birthday and a Thank You card.
Aren't they just so cute?
So, if you're looking for any ferret eCards to send to friends, you now know where to go

Muis, my lovely old lady died last night at around 9pm and I don’t know why it happened.
She was absolutely normal on Sunday … she happily ate her chicken in the morning, she lapped up her smoothy with the others, she had all her supplements without a hitch and she wanted to be picked up and cuddled when I went to bed.
I did notice that her body felt quite warm when I had her next to me in bed, but she didn’t appear to be unhappy or distressed so I didn’t think anything more about it. Read more...
