I was absolutely fascinated to read that giant otters are very vocal and can make about 40 different sounds to communicate with each other.
This particular species (Pteronura brasiliensis) is considered to be the noisiest one of all and has definite sounds to indicate their feelings – for instance, if they are alarmed by something they bark, if annoyed they growl, and they have different types of humming of cooing sounds when they are reassuring other members of the group. I got this straight from the horse’s mouth just a couple of days ago ☺
Thank goodness Philip saw Angus making off with his wallet and followed him to see that Angus had slipped under the sofa to stash it.
Then just this morning I got an email from Philip saying he almost ripped out what remaining hair he has looking for his wallet again. He was getting frantic as it wasn’t under the sofa or any of the other hiding places Angus stashes his ill-gotten gains but he finally found it under my armchair – obviously a new spot! Read more...
