Update on Kaos. my sick ferret

Well that old lady has been leading me a very merry dance!

One day about two weeks ago, she went all skinny and wobbly and I was sure she was going to die on me (before I went into hospital). I was up practically every hour on the hour at night, checking to make sure she was still breathing. That was Thursday, October 11. I made an appointment to take her to my vet as I didn't want to risk having her fall sick over the weekend.

We couldn't work out how Seamus was getting up to my desk to keep stealing plastic packets of wires/cords/plugs, etc, which I had thrown in a box for Philip to go through and throw away.

I was having a shower this morning when Philip heard a crash. He called out, thinking I had fallen over in the bathroom, and I said "Nope, it wasn't me!" so he went into our study and found Seamus clambering up onto the little bookcase, heading for more packets of plastic!

Monty the ferret is packed and ready to go …

...... to hospital with me today. Hi ho, hi ho :-)

I reckon I should have frequent flyer points for the amount of time I spend at St John! But as it's always in the Orthopedic Ward, I am known as "The Ferret Lady" and that's great, because when the nurses start asking me about Monty, I launch into the pleasures of having a ferret as a pet! What a great PR tool! :-) )

Mind you, today I am not so sure I think there are any pleasures in having ferrets, or rather a CERTAIN FERRET (who shall remain nameless but who has been written about many times in this blog - hmmm, can you guess who?!?)!!

More on Russian sables ….

My goodness -- I couldn't believe it when I saw this video. It's taken by the same people and so I assume that the sables are the same as in that earlier video but now grown up. I'd say they were around 3 months old but obviously can't be certain.

The guy obviously loves his mustelids and watching these sables flying around his apartment made me so glad that our ferrets don't act quite like that. Yes they have their mad moments but these sables take the cake in craziness ;-) )

Russian Sables

I saw this clip on YouTube and absolutely fell in love with the little sable kits.

They are just so adorable and I was both laughing and crying when I saw them following the guy around in the paddock. Laughing because it was so sweet and crying at the thought of people keeping these magnificent animals in cages for the express purpose of breeding them to make fur coats.

The folks who made the video seem to love their sable kits as much as any ferret owner and I had to chuckle when I saw the kits climbing up the guy's pants. The only type of ferrets in my life who have climbed up my slacks/trackpants have been silvermitt and BEW (DEW) girls!
