Update on the 3 Musketeers

Elvin sent me more pictures of the little ones -- aren't they looking well now?! They're obviously thriving under their mother's (and their humans') care.

Congratulations once again to all the KL ferret lovers involved - you guys are doing a great job!

It won't be long before the trio turn into naughty little ferrets and cause havoc in the house!! I'll bet those pictures will be priceless! :-)

Seamus, the water weasel has done it again!

How long has it been since Seamus chewed through my old washing machine hose? It seems like only a couple of weeks ago when Philip replaced it and I painted it with the foul tasting stuff that the vet gave me then foolishly thought that would be the end of the problem!

Last Thursday I put the washing machine on and after a little while I heard a "different" noise. I went into the laundry and saw a spray of water shooting up from the back of the machine. My heart sank when I realized that Seamus had been at the hose again!

Pictures of the 3 Musketeers

Elvin sent me pictures of the kits - aren't they just so precious?

I find it truly amazing how ferret kits in general survive, being so helpless and dependent on their mother for the first 3-4 weeks. And when you think that most mustelid kits are the same when they are born, to me it's especially incredible that they can reach maturity in the wild.

So far so good in the Musketeers' progress, and I would think that now that they've reached their 5th day, they're going to continue to grow and prosper health-wise.

I recently had an email from Elvin, a fellow ferret lover, proudly announcing the birth of 10 kits in Kuala Lumpur on May 20th.

Unfortunately 7 of the kits didn't make it through the first couple of days but I'm told that the remaining 3 are going well, so fingers crossed that they continue to grow and get stronger!

The proud parents are Dexter, a silvermitt, and DD, an albino, both 20-months old and both from Holland originally. Elvin said that he and others who are owned by ferrets are thinking about starting up a breeding program so that more ferrets will be readily available for other people in KL.

Ferrets for Freedom banned from YouTube?

I don't know if anyone has seen this comment which Mike left on my last post ...

Why on earth would anyone ban that organization from YouTube?

To me that is an utterly absurd thing to do - unless, of course, Mike took a poke at Mr Giuliani and he got the hump (as we say in Oz). And even if he did, don't they believe in Freedom of Speech in America? Surely that's what the First Amendment is all about, no?
