Polecat is back in town!

How cool is this news? Apparently polecats disappeared from this particular area during WWI, so it's been a while without the little mustelid.

Hopefully the polecats will go forth and multiply and not get trapped or killed by people, or cars, or dogs, or whatever else!

THE polecat is returning to the Cheshire countryside for the first time in nearly a century.

Wildlife experts have reported sightings of the animal near Macclesfield, Wilmslow and Middlewich. With its long cat-sized body, bushy tail and black and white face, the polecat is easily recognisable.

What a wonderful thing - after Katrina people obviously felt the need to help animals and their owners during disasters and I salute them for doing this.

So - for all you American ferret owners, bookmark this site. I hope you never have to use it but if disaster strikes, you'll know where to go to get help for your ferret!

T he mission of F.E.R.R.E.T. is to provide aid to domestic ferrets during natural and man-made disasters such as hurricanes, fires, floods, tornados and earthquakes.

Info not to be sneezed at in pet allergy book

Well about time someone wrote a book about how to control pet allergies!

Too often I hear about people saying that they have to hand in their dog, cat or, yes, even ferret, because they are allergic to the animal. Now there is no excuse!! :-)

You adopt a pet, then learn you're allergic. Talk about intense conflicts.

Don't toss the creature. Your symptoms can be managed, the allergens in your home reduced and your quality of life improved.

Back from the brink

It's good to see that the BFF recovery program is going so well.

Of course you still hear people grumbling about the fact that prarie dog populations are declining because of the BFFs - sometimes it seems like it's impossible to make everyone happy.

Most Wyoming residents will wake up Sept. 25, pour a cup of coffee and reluctantly face another mundane Monday.

A handful of Wyoming Game and Fish Department veterans, however, may pour a cup of something with more of a jolt to it and share fond memories of Shep, Scarface and fallen comrades.
