Leonardo’s ermine ….

I decided I should hunt down a picture of an ermine, facing the same way if possible, to prove my point about how very unermine-like Leonardo’s creature is.

Look again at its leg and foot – so muscular and so wrong!

Maybe everyone has it wrong and it really isn’t an ermine but some mythical creature he invented ;-D

Pictures of the 3 Musketeers

Elvin sent me pictures of the kits – aren’t they just so precious?

I find it truly amazing how ferret kits in general survive, being so helpless and dependent on their mother for the first 3-4 weeks. And when you think that most mustelid kits are the same when they are born, to me it’s especially incredible that they can reach maturity in the wild.

So far so good in the Musketeers’ progress, and I would think that now that they’ve reached their 5th day, they’re going to continue to grow and prosper health-wise.

Saw this article so thought I’d pass it on in case other ferret owners missed it.

There is yet another pet food recall.

Eight in One is recalling packages of its Dingo brand dog, cat and ferret treats in Canada and the U.S. because of concerns over salmonella.

The Cincinnati-based company says the bacteria could infect both animals and people handling the food.

The announcement is not related to the recalls of tainted food that has led to kidney failure in pets.

Angus’ weird habit!

I’ve never had a ferret before who sucks on his paw! He is such a funny little man!

It usually happens when he gets picked on by either one of the girls or Seamus – obviously it’s too traumatic for him and he goes to sleep sucking on his paw, like he has a pacifier in his mouth.

It’s not ringworm – phew :-)

I noticed Muis had a sore on her thigh two weeks ago and so kept an eye on it. It was a little “wet” at first, then I saw a scab form so thought it was getting better.

A few days later I saw the scab wasn’t there anymore and it was wet again, and the sore had a circular shape to it so I thought, “Uh ho! Please let it not be ringworm!”
