… only about Bam, the dog which was found floating on the roof of a house THREE weeks after the tsunami hit that part of Japan!

(C)(Reuters : ABC News)
When I first heard that the Japanese Coast Guard found a dog alive and well floating on the roof of a house out to sea, I was so happy. Finally a little glimmer of happiness out of many weeks of seriously depressing news.
Then when I heard that the dog’s owner recognised her puppy and contacted the relevant authorities, I just burst into tears! So wonderful to finally have a good news story coming out of that poor country!

The devastation and the destruction is just overwhelming and it’s impossible not to cry when watching the news. It’s unbelievable. And to think some of those fires were deliberately lit beggars belief! I’ve heard that as the firemen were putting out fires, a fire bug was behind them and lighting new fires! How can anyone do such a thing!?

I know there are a lot of ferrets in Victoria and would imagine that a lot of the farming communities would have them so that they could go ferreting. I’ve tried to find out news about that but there’s nothing and it’s probably just as well as I think the news would be heartbreaking.

The above picture was taken by the breeder when Seamus was just a little baby! He already looked like he was going to be a handful way back then, don’t you think?
Well, my water weasel now has a new trick. He got onto the bed and saw my open iBook … so what does a naughty ferret do in such cases? Of course – he sees how many keys he can rip out from the keyboard!

I’ve been trying, very unsuccessfully, to find a ferret (or furet as they are called here) in the neighborhood … then yesterday my sister and brother-in-law took me to Cannes and I almost jumped out of the car when I saw the name of the shop below.
FINALLY … a Ferret in France
