Rainbow Bridge Archives

Vale Kahlua :’(

kahlua My brave little old lady lost her fight and died on Friday morning :(

I honestly thought she was going to be with us for longer, as she was so active when she was up. She used to power walk around the house, so fast that I had to scurry to keep up with her if I was trying to give her her medication or smoothy.

And now there are three :~(

Muis, my lovely old lady died last night at around 9pm and I don’t know why it happened.

She was absolutely normal on Sunday … she happily ate her chicken in the morning, she lapped up her smoothy with the others, she had all her supplements without a hitch and she wanted to be picked up and cuddled when I went to bed.

I did notice that her body felt quite warm when I had her next to me in bed, but she didn’t appear to be unhappy or distressed so I didn’t think anything more about it.

The Rainbow Bridge page is up … finally!

It took longer than I thought but FINALLY it’s ready!  Phew!

I do hope all of you who’ve lost a ferret will go to that page and write something about your little one so that we can all share the memories with you.  And please feel free to upload a photo too – it’d be great for everyone to be able to put a face to the name.
I felt terribly sad when I listed all of my gang who are waiting at the Bridge but it’s good to have something there to remember them by.  It’s true – time does heal and it’s always a good thing to remember all the happy times and all the silly things they did before they got old or sick.
See you at the page :-) )

RIP Kaos — 1998=2008

It upsets me to say but my Kaos didn’t make it.

She died peacefully around 4:30 this afternoon – I’m not sure of the time because I’d been holding her in my arms while in the sitting room but she sounded upset, making little crying noises, so Philip took her and put her back in the drawer.  When I went to check on her just half-an-hour later, she had crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge.
She’s now playing with all my other ones at the Bridge and I just am so grateful that she didn’t suffer for any longer than she had to.
She was a wonderfully zany little ferret – a rescue ferret from WAFFS (she was found in a cardboard box outside a vet’s surgery and handed into WAFFS), she came to us after being rejected by 3 families because she was so high maintenance.
My good friend Lyn got her son, Ken, to bring her to our house in 2000 and when Ken let her out of the carry cage, Kaos ran around the perimeter of our sitting room several times then jumped onto the back of our German Shepherd!  The dog took off and Kaos was hanging on for dear life onto her back, like a rodeo rider!  That’s why I called her Kaos …. no other name suited her :-)
She was a character to the end and will be missed terribly by us but at least now she’s feeling no pain and is at peace.
This photo which Philip took of her in her water bowl captures the essence of that wonderfully silly little girl who was so full of love and made us all laugh with her antics  ….  I’ll miss you terribly, my little one  :-((
