Asian small-clawed otter kits

This has to make everyone say … awwwwwwwwww – so cute!!!!!!
Aren’t they just the sweetest little things — and so much like ferret kits when they’re young too.
There is just something about mustelids that totally fascinates me. There are so many different types – ranging from huge otters down to the tiny least weasel – all in the same family. Truly amazing!
I never wanted to read “Ring of Bright Water“, nor did I want to see the film, because I knew there was going to be a sad bit towards the end. Who wants to cry at the movies? I don’t.
But it must have been so much fun to watch and work out if having an otter as a pet was anything like us “nuts” (and I mean that as a compliment!) who have our wonderful ferrets to make us laugh (and cry) every day

I am so glad to hear that the penalty for killing otters is more than the people would get for their fur, Dada.
At least that makes for a good deterrent!
Yes, I am so tempted to increase my ferret family and I know Philip wouldn't mind. I'm just a little concerned that having a newcomer might upset Muis and I don't want to do anything to make her condition worse
In a perfect world, I would love to have a male & female in each "colour" – silvermitt, sable, DEW & albino – then I would be very happy and my poor husband would lose even more of his hair off his head!!
Oh I am sorry to hear you lost one so young but I know he would have had a great life with you.
I had the most gorgeously dark sable many years ago – he was the son of our first male, Chucky. Both Chucky & CJ were handsome little fellows and with the best temperament ever. If only I could have cloned them both!!!
@ Nona
Oh! That would be Yew, my first male (and Pixie's brother). Sadly, he passed away 2 days before his third birthday (September of last year). It's kind of my way of honoring my handsome little boy.
And, yay! Definitely add a sable (>heehee<). I've fallen in love with the coloring (obviously).
oh I see now that I made some mistakes in my writing again
I mean “all mustelidaes are SOMETHING wonderful” and I also forgot to write that the thing is about 500 METER when I said that I have otters living nearby my home..
oh yes these bad people want their fur but today no one dares to kill otter here, they are really under a strenght law protection..the price that must pay one who kills otter is much much higher than the price of the fur on the black market..
it would be nice if you get one sable ferret too..see how come together,Fritzy is DEW-silver and Fred is dark sable..
have a nice week,Nona and kiss your fuzzies for me!
Oh Dada
How lucky you are to have otters nearby! Goodness, I hope no one ever manages to kill any of them. Why would they? Is it their fur that they want?
When Philip & I had a vacation in Langkawi (in Malaysia), there were supposed to be a family of Asian small-clawed otters nearby and I used to go and check out the stream where they said they were every day but …. zilch!
I haven't ever seen a real life otter – only in aquariums, poor things
Thanks Sunny … I would hate for anyone to be insulted with my term
Yes, I’d heard the book was sad so refused to read it and when the film came out, I said no to going to see it. I don’t do sad animal films well!!!
Oooh, I like your new “atavar” (is that the right word?) … which one of your lovely trio is the star?
You know, I haven’t got a sable ferret in the family, nor a DEW. Hmmmmm – perhaps things should change here (wink wink)!!!!
they are truly amazing and soooooo sweet!
as you say Nona, all mustelidaes are somting wonderful, fom little weasel to big Amazona otters..
“ring of bright water” is wonderful but so sad on its end..
and do you know,I have otters living only 500 from my home
here is one small river where they lives without nature enemyes and are also under a law protection..if someone kills the otter must pay a big price and can also be arested..
but otters are very clever and is difficult to take photo of them,I try this for years without succes
I clicked the link to read about it, and nearly cried just from the description…I’d be bawling my eyes out if I ever saw this (kinda like The Yearling, Old Yeller…or god forbid, Where the Red Fern Grows).
Adorable pics (and yes, I take the your descriptor of a ferrent as the highest compliment! *g*)
